Ramayana Box Office Collection Day 1: ₹64.85 Crore Opening, Beats Dhurandhar
Ramayana Box Office Collection Day 1: Ranbir Kapoor and Yash's ₹1,600 crore epic opened with ₹64.85 crore in India. Find out how it performed against Jawan, Adipurush and Dhurandhar 2.
Advance bookings for Ramayana began 15 days before its release, coinciding with Dussehra. Ticket pre-sales gained momentum after a dispute between exhibitors and distributors was resolved last week. By the time the film arrived in cinemas, tickets worth ₹200 crore had reportedly been sold worldwide. These figures indicated that Ramayana was heading towards a major opening.
According to Sacnilk, Ramayana collected ₹64.85 crore net in India on its opening day. Morning shows remained housefull in several parts of the country. Although its advance booking figures did not reach the level recorded by Dhurandhar 2 earlier this year, the film managed to deliver a strong opening, largely driven by the performance of its Hindi version.
Despite Yash playing the role of Ravana, the Kannada version recorded a relatively slow start, contributing only ₹7.25 crore. The Hindi version generated ₹47.50 crore, while the Telugu version collected ₹6 crore. The Tamil version contributed ₹2.60 crore and the Malayalam version earned ₹1.50 crore. As a result, the film's total net collection in India stood at ₹64.85 crore, while its domestic gross collection reached ₹77.50 crore. The worldwide box office figures are still awaited, and the makers have not released any official collection figures.
With its opening-day earnings, Ramayana surpassed the first-day collection of Dhurandhar by the afternoon itself. Ranveer Singh's film had opened with ₹28 crore last year. By the end of the day, Ramayana had also moved ahead of the opening-day collections of several blockbuster films, including Pathaan, which earned ₹57 crore, Animal with ₹63 crore and Drishyam 2 with ₹62 crore.
However, Ramayana could not surpass the opening-day records of Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, which collected ₹75 crore, or Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar 2, which earned ₹102 crore on its opening day earlier this year.
One of the biggest setbacks for the film's opening-day record was its inability to outperform Adipurush. Despite facing criticism, the Prabhas-starrer film, which was also based on the Ramayana, had registered an opening of ₹86.75 crore in 2023. Ramayana therefore remained behind Adipurush in terms of first-day box office collections.
Ramayana is being produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. The ambitious project is planned as a two-part cinematic release.
The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. The first instalment, Part One, was released worldwide on November 5, 2026. The second part is scheduled to arrive in cinemas during Diwali 2028.
With a reported budget of ₹1,600 crore, Ramayana has recorded a ₹64.85 crore net opening in India, establishing itself among the major Bollywood openers while remaining behind the first-day collections of Adipurush, Jawan and Dhurandhar 2.
